Founded on principles of Love, Honor, and Truth, Sigma Nu has a proud history that spans over a century. Established in 1869 at the Virginia Military Institute, Sigma Nu was born out of a desire to foster unity, ethical leadership, and mutual respect among its members. Our founders envisioned a brotherhood that would stand against the injustices of hazing and embrace a higher standard of integrity and camaraderie.
Over the years, Sigma Nu has grown into a national organization with chapters across the country, each upholding the values and traditions that define our fraternity. Through dedication to service, academic excellence, and developing tomorrow's leaders, we continue to make a lasting impact in the communities we serve.
Our mission is to build men of character who lead with integrity and purpose. We are dedicated to creating a supportive and challenging environment that encourages each member to strive for excellence and live by our principles. LEAD, which stands for Leadership, Ethics, Achievement, and Development, is Sigma Nu’s comprehensive educational program. It develops leadership skills, personal responsibility, and ethical decision-making among our members through a structured phase-based experience.
Sigma Nu is dedicated to empowering its members to become impactful leaders both within and beyond the fraternity. Through a range of leadership roles and responsibilities, our members have the chance to develop vital skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and effective communication. From organizing events and managing chapter operations to participating in community service and philanthropy projects, every brother has the opportunity to make a difference and lead by example.
